Check mark iconThe Project

The purpose of this project is to improve the West A Street corridor beginning at the West City Limits Line, and extending east to the intersection of SW 5th Street.

The project includes work associated with:

  • Survey

  • Traffic Analysis

  • Roadway Alternatives Analysis

  • Roadway Design

  • Drainage Design

  • Environmental Review

  • Public Involvement

The final limits of design work to be completed along Coddington Avenue will be determined as part of the alternatives development and conceptual design work for the project. Traffic analysis will be completed for the West A Street corridor between SW 40th Street and SW 5th Street.

The design for the preferred alternative may be divided into two separate construction projects.  The design may include preliminary layout for the ultimate roadway facility, as determined by the traffic analysis and alternatives study, to establish the limits of grading for the project and drainage requirements. The existing pavement to the east of Coddington Avenue will be analyzed to determine if pavement rehabilitation is a viable option for this segment of the project. The storm drainage design will evaluate elements which comply with the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) requirements.

Final construction plans will be developed for the preferred alternative and will follow the City of Lincoln’s standards and specifications. The design will consider incorporating features that will minimize throw away” construction while also being able to maintain vehicular and pedestrian movements in the future when the roadway is expanded to the ultimate roadway section.
